Jake and Karen's house...
...the progress

This kitchen is very large and functional. It has an island, 2 windows and adjoining breakfast nook. It's also open to the family room by a half wall.

Large kitchen, lots of counter space. We added undercabinet lights (fluorescents); 12 pot lights (on a dimmer); and 2 pendants for lighting.

Another view, showing breakfast nook.

Close up of corner. We changed the builder's faucet with a pullout with built in soap dispenser.

View of fridge and stove. We removed the builder's ultra-basic hood and replace it with this Ventahood. The Ventahood was 5" taller, Jake had to remove the cabinet above, shorten the cabinet, take apart the doors, cut out the required amount and re-assemble it. Can't tell, can you?! We alsi put in the stainless backsplash behind the stove at the same time.

We painted the kitchen Benjamin Moore's Crown Point Sand, HC-90, added crown molding, backsplash (see link for some interesting details).

The accent wall is Benjamin Moore's Night Horizon, used throughout the first floor at different places. We built a valence to hide the track of the sliding panels and to allow for continuous crown molding.

Another view, at night.
